Cactus Spines

Another picture fron Curacao. Again I've no idea what kind of cactus this is but I loved the patterns made by the spines. Amazing to think that botanically these spines are simply modified leaves. Posted by Picasa

Cactus fence

I don't know what type of cactus this is. They are native to the Dutch Antilles Islands of Bonaire and Curacao where they are often grown as fences between fields. They worked pretty well - certainly kept me out! Posted by Picasa

Sweet peppers

These peppers were on sale in the market in Willhelmstadt, Curacao. Many of the stall holders sail across from Venezuala on a daily basis to sell produce from the mainland or fish caught in local waters. Posted by Picasa

Frilled Hibiscus

Frilled Hibiscus. This was spotted during a morning walk. It was growing in a cottage garden and I'd never seen a flower quite like this before. Posted by Picasa
